Seven years after America went looking for oil in Iraq, Obama says that enough is enough. Yes, that's it, on the American map, Iraq is going to be labelled as that war. That's not strictly true, Obama does say that "...make no mistake, our commitment in Iraq is changing, from a military effort led by our troops to a civilian effort led by our diplomats." - Barack Obama So the US does intend to stay for some time, reportedly to train, and protect the locals. As usual Obama is bulletproof with regards to his policies, which makes it harder to find funny things to taunt with. The exit starts at the end of this month and will run on until the end of next year, bringing the population of Iraq to 231 people.

With such a dignified and realistic exit strategy, Obama manages set a precedent by holding to promises he made during election. Bush's cock has well and truly been removed from Iraq's arse. Maybe the President will get an army base named after him.
The war itself, at least here in Blighty, was always considered a bad move by the majority. Much like anal, most never wanted in, and once we were in, the exit couldn't come quick enough for us. Blair, being Bush's bondage sextoy though, meant we didn't get much choice in the matter. It's easy to forget that regardless of if we wanted to go to Iraq, documentation claimed that they had WMD's. The US decided to cockblock the UN while they were performing investigations into the allegations and in the process turned the country into a war-torn toilet.
Since then the war has been lumped together with 'The War On Terror'. How one fights terror is beyond me, my guess is stop being such a sissy crybaby. I don't mean to trivialise Terrorist Attacks, since those are horrific spectacles of media drama. Rather that terrorists themselves are a minority which should be looked upon with distaste rather than fear. I do find it a tad ironic that the use of war to political ends can be justified while the sale of weapons to developing nations continues.
The reason for the war, always seems to boil down to oil, and that the oil industry wanted it. American millionaires wanted more money and needed line their pockets with the pelts of Iraqi citizens in the process. For the pro-war offenders all is not lost, Obama said that the troops would continue to look after the US's interests, so no need to throw your IPC share certificates in the bin with disgust just yet. The war may not have been good for us on a personal level, it was at least good for the Iraqis themselves, liberation a terrible dictator. Saddam Hussain isn't really the sort of man who you would invite round for tea, so he got what he deserved in the end, the never-ending chastisement of youtube's commenters.
The citizens of Iraq have a chance to start fresh. Hopefully we will soon be able to close the chapter on this bloody book laughingly called American history.
